VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Crafton Crocodiles is a volunteer-run organization. Our team can only be successful if each family contributes their fair share. Hosting swim meets is an enormous effort and requires that families perform a variety of roles. As such, we require that each family agrees to support the team in some capacity by:
- Volunteering at swim meets in assigned roles.
- Assisting with team events (e.g. Fun Days, Banquet).
- Participating in fundraising efforts and/or donating concession items.
Families are expected to contribute at least three times per season. Available volunteer opportunities are listed below.
SWIM MEET JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Timers
Time's stand behind their assigned lane and use the Swimmingly App to record swimmers times and confirm swimmer IDs.
Head Timer
Oversees all lane timers, serves as a back-up timer, distributes timing sheets, and checks that times are recorded correctly.
Finish Judges
Finish judges observe the order swimmers finish the race and record placement to help confirm results.
Stroke/Turn Judges
Watch swimmers to ensure they follow proper stroke and turn rules for each event.
*Prior experience/ training required.
Announcer/ Emcee
Announces events, heats, and other important information over the sound system and keeps the meet running smoothly and on schedule.
Concessions
Food Servers and cashiers prepare and sell food and drinks, handle money, and keep the concession area stocked and organized.
Seeders
Lines up swimmers into order of events, heats and lanes.
Runners
Collects completed timing and place sheets and delivers them promptly to the scoring table.
Heat Winner Ribbons
Distribute heat winner ribbons to swimmers after each race. The "heat winner" is the first swimmers to touch the wall in the race.
Ribbons / Medal
Prepare, label and organize award ribbons and medals for distribution to team. Place Crocodile's ribbons in swimmers' folders for collection during practice the day after the meet.
Meet Marshall
Maintains order on deck and ensures only authorized personnel are in restricted areas.
Starter
Signals the start of each race using the starting device and ensures swimmers begin fairly and safely.
